Jessica’s story
Before volunteering with BCP I had been a stay at home mum for almost 10 years and previously to that had worked helping victims of domestic violence. Getting back out into the “real world” was a daunting and scary experience and I kept putting it off, but I’m so glad that I did start volunteering with BCP. From the first day I was made to feel comfortable, welcome and valued. It’s fun and interesting work, where I have learnt new skills and at the end of each day you know that you have helped people.
 
Volunteering helped build my confidence in myself and my abilities. It increased my self-esteem and has helped give me my independence back. Off the back of volunteering at BCP, I was offered a part-time job here as the Benefit Buddy Administrator. I’d recommend volunteering here to anyone. It’s really rewarding work with lot of different volunteering opportunities.
